For people who have depression and/or anxiety, it's important to maintain open communication with a doctor. This remains true even after being diagnosed and started on treatment.
Sometimes it's difficult to remember all of the things to be talked about during a visit. It can be helpful to make a list ahead of time or to bring a family member or friend to the visit who can act as an extra "set of ears."
Until the effects of Effexor are known, be careful while driving a car or operating machinery.
Effexor Drug Interactions
Always be sure to tell a doctor or pharmacist about all the medications currently being taken, even over-the-counter and natural/vitamin products. Medications can sometimes work against each other.
If taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) for depression within the last 14 days, do not take Effexor without first checking with a doctor. It may not be safe. Likewise, once Effexor has been stopped, do not start a MAOI for at least 7 days.
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Effexor.
